Job Training

YWCA NCW offers both YWCA residents and community members a comprehensive job training program through our YWCA Thrift Store.

The YWCA Thrift Store provides beneficial hands-on job training to residents and community members giving them the necessary skills, experience, and education they need to go on to other employment opportunities. The program is designed to help under-experienced and unemployed individuals gain training in a retail environment handling sales transactions, maintaining inventory, unloading freight inventory, basic visual merchandising, and developing quality customer service skills.

YWCA NCW believes Job Training is a key element necessary to providing individuals the tools they need in order to stabilize themselves and work towards self-sustaining employment and permanent housing. Through our program, participants learn a variety of essential skills for successfully obtaining and maintaining employment.

Former YWCA Client, Thrift Store, YWCA North Central Washington
I was in a bad situation living with abusive people. Then I moved into YWCA’s Emergency Shelter and began working at the YWCA Store in their job training program and received case management services. The experience I gained there helped me get a job. I now work for a security company where I get to put my new found customer service skills to use everyday. Without the YWCA and their support, I would have never been able to make it this far. The help they have given me and so many others in the community is a blessing. They really do change lives everyday!
