YWCA is on a mission to eliminate racism, empower women, stand up for social justice, help families and strengthen communities.

We’ve been at the forefront of the biggest issues of the day for 160 years: from voting rights to civil rights, from affordable housing to pay equity and from violence prevention to health care reform. We carry on this long tradition of social action and advocacy to advance our mission — and you are a crucial part of this work.     YWCA NCW facilitates the Emergency Food and Shelter Program in Chelan and Douglas Counties. The program supplements and expands ongoing work of local nonprofit and governmental social service organizations to provide shelter, food and supportive services to individuals and families who are experiencing, or at risk of experiencing, hunger and/or homelessness.

Advocacy Agenda

Informed by our 165-year history and by the expertise of our nationwide network, YWCA is carrying on its long tradition of social action and advocacy to advance our mission. Since our inception, YWCA’s nearly 194 local associations in 45 states and the District of Columbia have been on the frontlines of more than 1,200 communities providing child care, safety from gender-based violence, housing and other programs and services to as many as 1 million women, girls, and families in a typical year. Today, with our mission and communities in mind, YWCA advocates at the federal, state, and local levels for practical solutions that meet the needs of women, girls, and marginalized communities that bring us closer to eliminating racism, empowering women, and ensuring peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all.
